Vicki’s Top 5 Fall Beauty Trends

October 27, 2020

Not only is fall a great time to update your wardrobe, it’s a great time to update your beauty routine. While certain trends re-emerging every fall, this year we see a return to more natural-looking and dewy make-up. Here are some of our top picks for our makeup kit this autumn. —Vicki Duong

hydrating base. With cooler weather comes drier skin, so we’re doing everything we can to keep our skin juicy and hydrated. The new Flawless Start Hydrating Serum Primer ($50) from Elizabeth Arden has quickly become a go-to when it comes to keeping our skin supple. The primer is infused with hyaluronic acid to improve skin tone and prep for makeup.

soft & fluffy brows. Put those tweezers away, a bushy brow is the it-look of the season. When it comes the arch, the fuller the better—however, if you need a little oompf look no further than the Revlon’s Colorstay Browlights ($15), available in six shades. This two-toned pencil can be used to define, fill and add dimension to eyebrows for up to 16 hours. We also love that it comes with a kabuki brush on one end to help blend the product in.

monochromatic eyes. Ideal for the eyeshadow newbie, a single-toned eye look is all the rage this fall. If you’re looking to elevate your monochrome look we recommend sticking with one hue in multiple finishes. NYX Professional’s Ultimate Finish Shadow Palette ($25) makes this trend foolproof. Each palette comes with four shades, and each shade comes in three different finishes (matte, shimmer and metallic.) Our personal fave is the Warm Rust with tones that remind us of the leaves changing colours.

soft flush. Seemingly the it-product of the season, we can’t get enough of blush! Not only does it add a subtle flush to our skin it also helps us look more youthful and awake. Best-seller and new to Sephora, Rare Beauty knocks it out of the park with its new Soft Pinch Liquid Blush ($26) available in matte and dewy finishes. Ultra-pigmented and in a cream formula you’ll only need a small amount to blend this product into your skin seamlessly.

glossy lips. Something about a glossy lip always seems to pull a look together. The Lip Lifter Gloss ($11) from Maybelline has become a new staple in our autumn routine. Not only do your lips look ultra-glossy and extra-plump, the formula also hydrates and smoothes. We love the classic Pearl shade—a clear gloss with a shimmer perfect for layering on top of your favourite lip shades to punch up the volume.
