Canadian fashion brand Silk Laundry is raising awareness for a pretty “fly” cause—protecting monarch butterflies—by gifting plantable milkweed seed packets with all Canadian orders.
The swamp milkweed is a wildflower known as a pollinator: it attracts many species of bees and butterflies, including the monarch, which lays its eggs on milkweed plants, and can be grown in your garden or in large pots. And, with monarch butterfly numbers in serious decline, it’s a more important piece of the environmental puzzle than ever. That’s why Silk Laundry is gifting a packet of milkweed seeds with every Canadian order, and encouraging shoppers to use the hashtag #savethemonarchs on Instagram to share their plant’s progress.
So purchase your favourite Silk Laundry item (we’re lusting after and looking forward to the label’s Monarch Butterfly ’90s Silk Slip Dress, coming March 2021) and help a butterfly out. —Vita Daily
