5 Essential Bath Products

November 3, 2020

Stressed? We hear you. A global pandemic will do that to a person. These days, our tubs have become our sanctuaries, our think tanks and our meditation pods. So draw a hot bath, light a few candles and sink into one of these healing, restorative, relaxing elixirs. —Catherine Dunwoody

goop’s “The Martini” Emotional Detox Bath Soak ($45) is not some fluffy, floral bath foam. Rather, this turns your tub into an East/West spa experience aimed to relax and heal body, mind and spirit. To us, anything that takes the edge off these super-stressful times is welcome. The scent? Let’s call it “earthy” with its exotic frankincense, chia seed oil and a Chinese medicinal herb called Nagarmotha.

Next up: Ombra Spa Aromatic Foam Bath in Juniper ($11). This German line of body products offers a range of pleasant fragrances, but we love the juniper because it’s unique and hard to find. Expect a fresh, woodsy scent from the extract and rich, long lasting bubbles.

More of a shower person? Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Shower Oil ($49) is new from this Covent Garden brand. A few pumps into your hand turns the oil into a creamy, heavenly scented body wash. Contains organic wild rosehip seed oil—also lovely as a shaving cream resulting in super-silky legs.

One of our all-time-fave brands for bath, REN Atlantic Kelp and Microalgae Anti-Fatigue Bath Oil ($42) contains Atlantic kelp and plankton extracts in a non-greasy formula that never leaves your tub slick. Naturally detoxifying, seaweed has been used in bathing for centuries. Sure to bring out your inner mermaid.

Dr Teal’s Pure Epsom Salt Melatonin Sleep Soak ($9) is brand new from this tried-and-true bath brand, and the timing could not be better. Stress and worry can make for sleepless nights, and these salts are blended with melatonin, lavender and chamomile essential oils resulting in some quality zzzs…

I like to unwind in a hot tub with epsom salts and a good book, sometimes even a glass of wine.
