FAÇADE Festival 2016 Lights up Downtown Vancouver

August 30, 2016

You may have noticed more leaves on the ground lately but do not worry; summer is not over yet! There are still plenty of upcoming nighttime summer outdoor activities in the city to look forward to before we say goodbye to warm evening strolls. We suggest that you add Vancouver’s second annual FAÇADE FESTIVAL to your list of outdoor events to check out before summer comes to an end.

FAÇADE FESTIVAL 2016 will temporarily transform the Robson Street exterior of the Vancouver Art Gallery at sundown with a series of dynamic and immersive digital projections. The project combines architecture, digital culture, projection mapping, illumination and public art and will feature work by critically acclaimed Canadian artists including Eric Metcalfe, Barry Doupé, Rebecca Chaperon, Renée Van Halm and Chris Shier.

Beginning on Tuesday, August 30 each artist’s dazzling site specific work will be projected onto the building. If you are interested in viewing all of the façade transformations on the same evening, visit on the final two nights of the event (September 4 and 5) where encores will be presented of all the artists’ digital projections.

This event is a collaboration between the Burrard Arts Foundation, Microsoft, Vancouver Art Gallery and Go2 Productions. It will run from August 30th to September 5th, 2016, 8pm to 12am each evening. Admission is free. —Laura Busby
