Friday, May 22nd provides an opportunity to tour a whack of Mount Pleasant artist studios and galleries in one beer-fuelled go.
ROVE: A Mount Pleasant Art Walk, provides a route around some of the neighbourhood’s best spots for art and libations, including Gene Studios (that’s Gene Cafe transforming for a night into a mini gallery featuring the work of neighbourhood artists like Rebecca Chaperon), Grunt Gallery, relative newcomers BAF and Field Contemporary, and LPY & GB studios, where renowned Canadian artist Lawrence Yuxweluptun and the Cheaper Show founder Graeme Berglund create their works. Brasseck Brewery and 33 Acres are in on the fun, with beer specials all night (just show your map, available at any participating gallery, to get in on ’em) and the after party will be held at the Projection Room—the Fox Cabaret’s sexy, under-the-radar upstairs bar (try the jicama tacos).
ROVE is all the places to be, all at once. —Adrienne Matei
