We chatted with Jaime about her passion to properly care for her skin and protect it daily—and for helping others do the same. —Vita Daily

Hi Jaime! Please tell us a bit about yourself, personally, to start.

My name is Jaime Pereira, I live in Victoria, B.C., where I married my high-school crush and have  two strong, sweet and spicy girls: Mia and Victoria.  

When and why did you launch your beauty brand?

I launched Glow Jar Beauty in August 2018, when I was seven months pregnant with my youngest. I started with four masks and four lips balms inspired by DIY projects my mom and I had always enjoyed when I was young. My mother taught me everything about how to maintain good skin-health practices and was the only woman I knew to wear sunscreen 365 days a year. Our line has grown into 16 amazing products that are ingredient focused and can work into anyone’s skin-care routine. Our best-selling product is our pineapple body oil, with with our hydrating facial toner a close second.

What would you say to someone who is just at the end of their rope with their skin?

First, I would ask what their number 1 concern is when it comes to their skin and what would they like to see improve? When we are able to identify a client’s top skin “concern” along with educating them on their actual skin type, it instantly eliminates overwhelm and allows them to move forward with a simplified approach to their AM/PM routine.

You recently added a Skincare Wellness Program, a Skincare Wellness Accelerator and Skincare Coaching to your roster. How do these work and who are they for?  

For years I’d be asked daily for product recommendations to treat XYZ skin concerns and I’d hesitate to answer as I knew it wouldn’t solve the problem, as we need to address the entire skin-care routine. Our skin-care programs provide amazing skin-health information, resources, support and a customized skin-care routine targeted to our clients’ individual needs. The best part is they are getting a complete routine based on their own budget, needs and preferences and I will suggest the best products from any brand that works to get them the best result.

Are you planning on launching any new products soon?

Yes, our new cleanser will be launching very soon and works for literally all skin types! Also, working on two more very exciting products that will launched later in the year. 

If you were stuck on a desert island, what one Glow Jar Beauty Inc. product would you insist on having with you, and why?

So hard, but I would have to say our luminous facial oil because it would help seal in hydration into the skin due to its fatty acid content, which I would need as I would be swimming all day! This facial oil is naturally packed with vitamins A and C, which help to brighten and even skin tone. Other uses would be to use on lips, cuticle treatment, oil cleanse—and never forget your neck!
