The Egg McMuffin has long been our go-to on those mornings after we’ve had a few too many glasses of Champers, or are ravenous and our fridges are empty. But now, McDonald’s is becoming a regular stop for our caffeine fix, too.
With a new espresso menu consisting of all the usual suspects—from lattes to cappuccinos to Americano mistos—made using a state-of-the-art Swiss made espresso machine and Arabica coffee beans, for a fraction of the competitors’ prices ($2.50 for a latte is a steal!), we weren’t sure what to expect.
But at a recent tasting session we sampled a cappuccino with perfectly thick foam and an espresso shot worthy of a café in Napoli. Into our lattes we dipped pristinely flaky, fresh-baked croissants (shipped to McDonald’s frozen from France and then baked on site) as well as the best brownie we’ve ever tasted (with Ghirardelli chocolate chunks, and gluten free, to boot!). Pair them with a Ghirardelli-chocolate syrup-topped mocha and you’ll forget you’re sitting under the golden arches. —VITA Daily
