Hi Fiona! Tell us a little bit about you and what do you do!
I was born and raised here in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, and I’m a TV host and producer. I’ve been working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes for over 20 years (!) and have had the incredible opportunity to interview thousands of people, from A-listers to Prime Ministers, rock stars to astrophysicists and everyone in between. I just love hearing people tell their stories! Currently I’m working as a producer and on-camera host for both Hubcast Media and UPWEGO.ai. I host a live-concert series called Onstage for Hubcast Media that airs nationally on Joy TV and I’m also on board as senior creative producer with Hubcast for various global productions and streaming events. I’m a lead producer and principal content creator for the UPWEGO.ai app, which recently launched, and we are so excited about it! The UPWEGO platform offers classes, live workshops and events, and a feed of inspiring content. I host an interview series on UPWEGO called The Feed with Fiona, where we invite people to tell their personal journey stories about how they got to where they are today. And, don’t worry, I’m not completely crazy having two jobs! There’s a lot of serendipity between the two companies and we shoot my interview series for UPWEGO at Hubcast Studios here in Vancouver. It’s one of those collaborations that just worked out, and I’m so happy it did!
How do you use your platform to impact those who follow you?
I feel very fortune to have a platform and a voice in the community and try to use it to shine a light on various charities that are close to my heart. I’ve always loved shopping locally, and since the pandemic hit I’ve tried to amplify as many local businesses as possible because, as you all know, they need our support! You can find me moonlighting on Vita Daily’s social, promoting local businesses as much as I can!
What’s your personal style mantra?
Oh, any quote by Coco Chanel, but here is one of my faves: “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”
Ah, summertime! What are some of your favourite things to do once the warm weather hits?
I feel so lucky to live here in Vancouver where the beaches and mountains are at our fingertips! I live about five minutes from Kits Beach, so my warm weather go-to is to head down to the ocean with my dog and have a little Zen time soaking it all in!
Any local summer holiday plans this year?
Can we pretend there’s no pandemic and I’m jetting off to the Amalfi Coast in Italy? As soon as it’s safe to travel internationally, that’s where you can find me! In the meantime, I’ll be enjoying all the incredible destinations right here in B.C.!
What’s your top summer product pick?
My top summer pick is a gorgeous hand-dyed silk dress by my dear friend Anna Kosturova! I always pack a few of her bikinis and beach coverups on any trip, and this one is to tie-dye for! This wrap-style maxi dress is so beautifully elegant, it can take you from the beach to dinner … on the Amalfi Coast some day, I hope!
