5 Kid Bug Sprays That Work

With warmer weather, lemonade, picnics and bike rides come … skeeters. There’s nothing worse than trying to enjoy the great outdoors while getting munched on by mosquitoes. And it’s especially annoying to little ones. So, when you’re prepping your summer activity bag, be sure to pack sunscreen, extra bottled water, a few snacks and one of these great bug sprays for kids. —Jennifer Cox

Kids Herbal Armor DEET-free natural insect repellent from All Terrain ($12) is an effective and safe solution that uses a mixture of six natural repelling oils (soybean, citronella, peppermint, cedarwood, lemongrass and geranium) and over 26% active ingredients to protect kids against mosquitoes and other pesky insects.

Roll the bottle between your hands before each use to ensure the essential oils are properly mixed. Then apply to pressure points on the body, such as the temples, the bottoms of the feet, and the insides of the wrist.

SC Johnson OFF! FamilyCare insect repellent sold through Canadian Tire ($9) features a powder-dry formula that dries on contact, leaving your skin and clothing feeling smooth and dry. You can apply this to your skin, or it also works on outer surfaces of clothing. The aerosol spray makes it easy to apply to the whole family to repel mosquitoes, biting flies, gnats, ticks, and fleas.

Anti-Bug Shake & Spray natural bug repellent from Badger ($13) is good for the skin and bad for the bug. It repels insects naturally with the citronella, rosemary, and wintergreen essential oils, and doesn’t contain contains DEET, petroleum products, or synthetic chemicals.
