Since we can’t travel to the Okanagan (unless you live there and, if so, lucky you) let’s bring some B.C. wine country into our homes while we dream of lifted travel restrictions. Liquidity Wines’ new spring lineup includes a 2020 Pinot Gris ($21), which pairs beautifully with seabass or citrus scallops. Most Prosecco fans have had a long love affair with Bottega, the Italian winery and distillery from the Veneto region with its range of lovely bubbles. They’ve just introduced a new spring bubble, Il Vino dei Poeti Prosecco Doc Rosé Bottega ($20 at BC Liquor Stores), and it’s wonderful with charcuterie of baked ham, Parmigiano Reggiano, sundried tomatoes and mini croccantini.
The latest from B.C.’s Moraine Winery is Cliffhanger White ($18)—an easy-drinking blend of Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Viognier. Fruit-forward and medium-dry, it plays nice on the patio alone, but we love it with spicy Indian curries or Pad Thai, too.
How about a nice light red for spring? Try the Nk’Mip 2018 Merlot ($22 at BC Liquor Stores), with its soft tannins and black fruit notes, next time you’re grilling up a steak.
