Filling Abigail’s shoes has been tough on Yew St., with Supermarine closing its doors after only a year. That may seem intimidating for some, but if so, the team at Lucky Taco are showing no signs of nerves. And rightly so.
The space is unrecognizable from its previous incarnations, painted a rustic white with colourful yellow walls, palm leaf tables, and splashes of turquoise mint, with old soda bottles and giant sombreros adorning the walls, and a fully stocked, impressive bar.
Already won over by the buzzing atmosphere, attentive staff, and charming decor, the food doesn’t disappoint (plus, it’s margarita Monday). It’s actually the best part.
The guac is fresh and zesty, the fried chicken taco mouthwatering, and al pastor taco delicious —a bonus point for celiacs, the tortillas are gluten free. The piece de resistance for us though is the corn cob. Yes, it’s simple and not usually a stand out menu piece, but wow is it absolutely delicious. —Aleeza Khan
