Celebrate Summer With This Canadian Clean Beauty Brand (Win!)

Hi Shannon and Annie! Please tell us a bit about yourselves to start.

Hello! We are sisters-in-law and co-founders of Fika Beauty! We love matcha lattés, spending time outside, and pursuing our passions, which include hair, nails, skin care, sustainability, body positivity and mental health awareness.

When and why did you launch Fika Beauty? What niche in the industry were you aiming to fill?

We launched Fika Beauty in October 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. We both worked in downtown studios where the energy was always about the hustle. We decided to name our studio Fika (fee-ka) because it means “to slow down and enjoy the greater things in life with friends.”. This encompassed the energy we wanted to cultivate within our space. A studio for you to come, take a breath, be pampered while catching up with a friends, and leave feeling refreshed. A studio teaching others the value of self-love and self-care, as well as sustainability through our Green Circle Recycling Program. This influenced the launch of our Fika products! They are a way to take that self-care energy home with you while helping us continue to raise awareness for sustainability efforts, natural products, and acts of self-care for our mental health.

Of your gorgeous products, what is one of your faves/bestsellers?

Our bestseller is definitely our #FikaFam Bundle Box! It includes our oil, body scrub, lip scrub and powder face mask so you can try them all. It makes for the perfect moment of self-care for you or a loved one.

Beyond quality product creation, what are the pillars of your business?

We speak about the SPIRIT of Fika in our studio and on our website. These are our values and belief system that drive us each day and helps us lean into the right decisions for our company and customers. Our SPIRIT values are Sustainability, Passion & Creativity, Integrity, Resilience, Innovation and Thankfulness. Along with this, we also strongly believe in community over competition. We have been lucky to meet incredible entrepreneurs along the way who have helped us and we want to pass that kindness on.

What are your top product recommendations for summer, and how should we use them?

Our go-to summer product is our All-In-One Glow Oil because it is perfect for nourishing your hair and skin before and after a day in the sun! Massage it all over your body, press it gently into your face, and work a small drop through your mid-lengths and ends for a literal All Over Glow! We also love to use the Grapefruit Glow Body Scrub two times a week to keep our legs looking soft and smooth for shorts season!
