Hi Rachelle! Please tell us a bit about yourself to start.

I am a cosmetic chemist with a masters in pharmaceutical science, where I have done tissue engineering for atopic skin like psoriatic skin. I also work with active ingredients for the cosmetic industry and encapsulation technologies. During my studies, I was a part-time cosmetician, and I realized that most people have difficulty finding skincare for their own skin because all skin is unique and everyone has their own tastes. I also found that there is a lot of discrimination in the cosmetic industry based on age, sex and skin concerns that impacts pricing of products. I decided to offer products that answer all their needs, even if you are 50 years old with acne prone skin and redness and an allergy to fragrance, and all this without price discrimination. We officially launched Omy two-and-a-half years ago after many years of research and development and tests.

What products do you currently offer, and what makes your range unique?

We offer a complete dermo cosmetic line to cover all needs, including a customized day and night cream that has more than 10,000 formulas possible and a customized niacinamide 5% serum, which has hundreds of formulations. We also have cleansers (foam, milk, micellar water), a tri exfoliating mask, multi-action eye contour (tested under ophthalmologic control) and dermo protective body cream (for children and adults). Our products are vegan, not tested on animals, 95 per cent and plus natural based, artificial fragrance free, essential oil free, petrolatum free and silicon free. All our products are formulated with a unique aquifer water coming from a mountain in B.C. that has minerals like calcium, magnesium, manganese (antioxidant), silica (moisturizing) and more than 12 other soothing minerals. Hydrotherapy is well known in Europe with the thermal water, and we found an exceptional one in Canada. You can use it in a spray on burns, irritation, redness to sooth immediately.

Tell us about the skincare analysis feature; how does it work, and what is the purpose?

SkinIA is a test that we developed with dermatologists and specialists of facial recognition. It includes an analysis of the skin with a photo and questions that permits you to select the most adapted formula of cream and serum for each skin. It also selects the right products to complete the routine like the cleanser. We were the first AI on the market used to do customized skincare.

What are your bestsellers, and why? Are you planning any product launches for the near future?

The customized day cream, night cream and serum! You are sure to find the right formulation for your skin, by changing the natural scented extract texture and ingredients that are adapted to your needs. Our foam cleaner is also one of our bestsellers, with its goji berry extract; the smell is so good and gives a brightening effect.

If you could only put one natural ingredient on your skin, what would it be and why?

For my skin, it is my Ac ingredient (the acronym we use for this active ingredient). It is an ingredient that we can add to customized skincare for acne-prone skin. It is a Canadian willoherb extract known for its healing and soothing properties. It is full of antioxidants (anti-aging) target specific acne and sooth redness. But every skin has its ingredient heroes! That is why I would also recommend niacinamide for every type of skin. Our’s is made via a natural biotechnology process.
