Vicki’s October Beauty Faves

As we approach the end of fall my mind is shifting to holiday mode as I dream up a wish list. But before we get into talking about the things I want to try next, let’s delve into the things I’ve tried recently that I deem wish list-worthy. Below read about some of my fave new products discovered in October. —Vicki Duong

east 29th verse lotion mist. Banish stressed skin with this all-natural mist ($56) from local brand East 29th. I adore its multi-beneficial results that include hydration, electricity and calming redness to leave skin feeling and looking healthier. The versatility of the spray allows for easy use and can be misted at the beginning or end of a skin-care routine—and even as a pick me up throughout the day.

amika top gloss hair shine spray. Fake a “fresh-out-of-the-salon” healthy shine with Amika’s Shine Spray ($33)that not only leaves a soft gloss finish to your tresses but also provides UV protection and helps combat frizz. Plus, the finish helps add a boast to dehydrated coloured hair to keep locks luscious.

revlon x megan thee stallion big bad pallette. When it comes to turning looks, Megan Thee Stallion is the queen. In her latest collab with Revlon, the Big Bad Palette ($26) steals the show with a combination of matte, metallic and shimmer shades that can be worn wet or dry to achieve the ultimate hot-girl look.

lush repeat foot balm. As the air gets crisp I find my skin getting drier and my heels starting to crack. But with Lush’s Repeat ($15) I can take it in stride. The intensely moisturizing castor oil helps repair my skin while a fresh orange scent adds a sweet scent to my step.

proudest pony redeemer shampoo and conditioner bar. One of the easiest ways to be more sustainable while in the shower is to swap out your shampoo and conditioner bottles for bars. It reduces the amount of plastic you produce and is ideal for travel. I love the Proudest Pony Redeemer ($28 per bar) focused on restoring strength with plant-based keratin.

innisfree green tea hydrating hyaluronic acid serum. Give your skin some much-needed TLC as temps start to drop with this lightweight (but powerful) serum ($35) from Innisfree. Not only does it hydrate your skin using natural ingredients from Jeju Island, but it’s impressively budget friendly. No wonder Innisfree is Korea’s number one skin-care brand, with the hyaluronic acid serum being their best-selling product.

kristen ess weightless shine air dry crème. Easy-to-style hair is always a go-to and the Air Dry Crème ($15) from Kristin Ess helps create an effortlessly polished look. It gives natural body to your hair while also smoothing and adding soft texture to your at-home styling; the lightweight formula is designed to work best on air-dried hair.

versed day dissolve cleansing balm. The name says it all: Versed Day Dissolving Cleansing Balm ($24) has become my new way to remove makeup at the end of the day. This oil-based balm easily melts away makeup making it the ideal product for double-cleansing. Plus it’s part of the Thoughtful Choices lineup at Shoppers Drug Mart, meaning that it’s formulated to be mindful of our planet.

lys beauty higher standard satin matte cream blush. The obsession with cream blush continues, this time with LYS Beauty version ($22). The positively named blushes (such as Empower and Kindness) boast high pigmentation that easily blend into skin for a natural finish, while the addition of kaolin clay ensures limited excess shine.
