How To Make The House of Gucci Martini

December 13, 2021

With Gucci gracing so many of VITA‘s magazine covers, there’s no way we’re missing seeing this film! House of Gucci tells the story of the world-renowned fashion house while presenting a dazzling cocktail moment with an arguably world-renowned spirit brand, Tanqueray. In an enticing first-meeting scene between the film’s two main characters, viewers are given an up-close look at Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) crafting the perfect Tanqueray martini with a twist, which the glamorous Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) has ordered to her liking. Her martini is shaken using Tanqueray London Dry Gin, served up in a vintage coupe martini glass and garnished with a simple, yet elegant lemon twist. Just like Carrie Bradshaw’s lusth-worthy Cosmopolitan was put on the map in Sex and the City, Tanqueray’s feature martini moment in House of Gucci further solidifies its position as the iconic gin of choice for fashion and style lovers. We tapped Simon Hooper, Tanqueray brand ambassador and bartender, for the recipe, and his top tips to make the iconic House of Gucci Tanqueray martini with a twist. —Noa Nichol

Tanqueray Martini (With A Twist) From House of Gucci

1.5 oz Tanqueray London Dry Gin
.75 oz dry vermouth
Garnish: Lemon twist
Glass: Martini glass
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker. Fill with ice. Seal it. Shake hard until VERY cold. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a nice lemon twist.

Simon says: Personally, I absolutely love the martini. It’s bold, it’s elegant, and it’s timeless. Here are a few tips to help you add “unforgettable” to the list words that describe this beauty of a cocktail. Here are my top tips:

measure your ingredients. When making “spirit-forward” cocktails (made exclusively with spirits), it’s all about balance. Too much of a good thing, sometimes isn’t always a good thing.

take it slow. The martini is as bold as she is beautiful. Taking it easy is the secret to dancing the night away.

make it yours. You’re creating a masterpiece. Your masterpiece. Throw a little bit of your own personal flair into the equation. Maybe you’re a little more grapefruit than lemon, or perhaps you prefer the floral sweetness of a bianco vermouth. Be playful. It’s fashion, baby!
