Take Trendi’s 21 Day Food Waste Challenge

January 13, 2022

A Vancouver-based robotics startup dedicated to rescuing and upcycling food waste into delicious products wants all of our help in achieving its mission.

TrendiTech Inc. (a.k.a. Trendi) is calling on the global community, from consumers to businesses, schools and producers, to take part in its new campaign: The Pledge to Stop Food Waste. The goal is to build awareness, create conversation and mobilize action toward reducing food waste. Participants, called Food Waste Heroes, are given resources and ongoing tips to help them reduce their waste, track and encourage them to share their progress.

“1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted annually and almost 50 percent of food waste comes from households,” says Carissa Campeotto, co-founder and CMO of Trendi. “Our goal with The Pledge to Stop Food Waste is to empower people to change their lifestyle and make a commitment to reducing food waste over time. Every step and action taken, either big or small, makes a difference. Our 21 Day Food Waste Challenge assists people in making these choices, and we look forward to seeing how participants do.”

Committing is simple. Simply sign up and pledge to reduce your food waste by category, such as in vegetables, fruits, food packaging and protein. Then, start your food waste-reduction journey by completing the 21 Day Food Waste Challenge, which is designed to provide and introduce you to new food-saving habits, from everyday storage tips to repurposing tricks. It’s also a destination for collaborative resources and tools, which will be continually updated (think educational resources about food loss and waste, food waste diary and measurement information, food storage hacks and fridge organization, and awesome ways to reuse leftovers in recipes).

On the robotics side, Trendi is currently working on several initiatives, such as its pioneering, state-of-the-art BioTrim mobile processing units to reduce food waste at the source, and upcycled food products for consumers.
