These Smart Tools Help Parents Simplify Their Lives (Win!)

There’s a new Canadian brand dedicated to simplifying moms’ and dads’ everyday lives and, as parents ourselves, we’re here for it! Hello Garett! When and why did you launch Quark?

My journey as a new parent is what inspired the concept behind the brand. In March 2021, my wife and I celebrated the birth of our daughter, Hannah. From the moment we started shopping for the baby category, we were taken aback to witness how relatively generic baby products could be expensive. As we started using those products in our day-to-day, we experienced how many were not optimal – for us and our baby. That’s what motivated Quark—we wanted to develop products to make parenting simpler, at every step and stage. To achieve that, we carefully designed each product to be more functional, easier to use, and easier to clean than others found in the category. At the core, Quark is a family business—our products were developed with our children, and our parenting needs and challenges in mind, which we know will speak to so many families across the country. Created by parents for parents, no details were neglected to offer more thoughtful, safe, high-quality, and affordable baby products for modern families. As to why we named our company Quark; a quark is actually the smallest object ever observed, it’s one of the fundamental particles in physics. They join to form protons and neutrons, and just like our children, they are the building blocks of our universe.

What niche were/are you aiming to fill?

Parents know that having a baby comes with a very long list of products they’ll need at various stages of their parenting journey. Some of these must-have items are used every single day by parents and babies, yet they add a layer of complexity to small daily tasks simply because they’re not the easiest to use or clean. When I became a father, I quickly realized how the baby category was lacking options for practical, well-designed, and affordable items. That’s the problem that Quark is trying to solve. We want to offer to as many Canadian families as possible baby products that are more thoughtful, safe, high-quality, and affordable. Ultimately, our ambition is to significantly improve parents’ lives, so they can invest their time and energy in what matters most to them—their children.

What products/services do you currently offer, and what makes them unique … and intelligent?

Starting April 4 Quark is proud to officially launch an assortment of six intelligently designed baby products—innovative and convenient essential products created to make parenting easier. Our product assortment includes:

Why do you think more and more parents are looking to simplify their everyday lives?

Life is complicated enough as it is, and truth be told, parenting is filled with challenges. Beyond wanting to simplify every possible sphere of their everyday lives, nowadays, parents are also becoming more conscious about what they buy and what they bring into their household. From our usage and attitudes research, we know that 48 per cent of our Quark’s core demographic (25-54 y.o.) is willing to spend money to save time, and 63 per cent are looking for ways to simplify their lives—that’s where Quark comes in. We believe that if parents can save some time thanks to intelligently designed products, that’s a small win that can have a big impact on their lives. That’s why we designed Quark products to make parenting easier. 

Of the six Quark products you launched with, which has been the top game-changer for you as a dad?

I use every one of our Quark products with our daughter Hannah, but for me, I find feedi, our five-piece silicone dining set, the one that has made the biggest impact in my relationship with my daughter.  Food is such an amazing bonding experience, and I look forward to feeding her every day; she’s such a character, and seeing her explore her personality through food is so much fun. I give her the gum-friendly utensils to chew on while I prep and heat her food. The suction cups on the bowl and plate are super useful, but what’s incredibly underrated about feedi is the ergonomic lip on the bowl.  I use it to cut and portion Hannah’s purees on the spoon, which eliminates a lot of the mess on her face and on the floor as a result. When I’m done, it’s all super durable silicone which is dishwasher safe, so cleanup is really easy.
