Celebrate Braai Day

September 17, 2014

braaibroodjieSome of our favourite South African wines (think Two Oceans, Flat Roof Manor and Obikwa), along with other Distell Group spirits and cider brands, have teamed up to help us celebrate Braai Day right here in Canada.

A braai, which is the Afrikaans term for barbecue, is such an important and longtime custom in South Africa that it’s actually been given its own holiday. It’s also a great way to bring people together to mark the end of the summer grilling season—which is what we’re planning to do on September 20th, 2014. You can celebrate Canada Braai Day, too, by having friends and family over for a South African-style barbecue, complete with traditional foods like braaibroodjie (a grilled cheese-and-chutney sandwich) and snoek (grilled fish with apricot jam and garlic). Our mouths are watering already.
