On April 30 Indigo will be celebrating the grand opening of its first-ever beauty and wellness shop at its Robson location in Vancouver. At 1,300 square feet, the shop will offer a curated and expansive assortment of top health, beauty and personal care brands. We chatted with Pam McDermott, Indigo’s merchant vice-president of lifestyle, to learn more. —Noa Nichol
Hi Pam! Please tell us a bit about yourself to start
I’m from the U.K. and have been working in retail for almost 30 years. I’m thrilled to have recently joined Indigo and excited to be working in Canada! Indigo has such passionate and interesting customers and it’s a joy to serve them. As a mom, wellness is core to how I treat myself and practice self-care, so on a personal level I’ve loved watching as we continue to expand our assortment in this space.
We’re so excited to hear that on April 30, Indigo will be celebrating the grand opening of its first-ever beauty and wellness shop at its Robson location in Vancouver. Can you tell us a little about what we can expect to see IRL?
We’re thrilled to offer the Vancouver community an elevated in-shop experience with this new shop. It’s beautifully laid out, giving customers an opportunity to explore the expansive assortment and interact with the products. Whether you’re just starting out or are a seasoned beauty and wellness shopper, there’s something for everyone, from makeup and skincare to books and fitness essentials. The shop is designed to bring customers everything they’re looking for, all in one place.
What sorts of products and brands will be represented in the shop?
We’re excited to offer a diverse range of products at the shop that help support our customers on their wellness journey. This includes sleep and mindfulness essentials, skin care and makeup, yoga and fitness gear and more. We’ve curated a selection of top brands we know our customers will love including The Detox Market, Origins, Shiseido, Bala, Therabody, with many more available to discover in the shop.
We hear in-store experts will also be on hand; how will they be assisting our shopping experience?
Indigo has partnered with green beauty experts, The Detox Market who will have product experts available in the shop to support customers. Whether you’re looking for a recommendation for a new product to try, or are building a routine from the ground up, they’re extremely knowledgeable and are there to help make it fun and easy!
Any in-store events planned?
We’re looking forward to offering a variety of beauty and wellness inspired events kicking off later this year!
Final, tough question: the one product you can’t wait to pick up for yourself from the shop?!
I’m really looking forward to picking up a face mask by the brand _faace, they have six different types—I’m going to be grabbing the one called Dull—all available through The Detox Market. The brand was started in the U.K. and it’s been wonderful watching their popularity grow in so many different markets.
