Today: celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at the Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver!
Come out to MOA today on National Indigenous Peoples Day for a selection of short films that feature the work and words of xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) artists, cultural knowledge keepers and community members.
Share in these stories in recognition of the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory that MOA is located on. These short films honour xʷməθkʷəy̓əm’s presence and stewardship of this land since time immemorial. The films explore xʷməθkʷəy̓əm history, learning the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ language, reviving Coast Salish weaving and the creation of the Reconciliation Pole at UBC.
Presented in collaboration with the Belkin Art Gallery, this special event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, free with museum admission. Also, check out the MOA Indigenous staff Instagram Takeover for National Indigenous History Month and stay tuned for more in the museum’s Instagram Stories this month. —Vita Daily
