Top 10 Things To Do At Khatsahlano Street Party

June 28, 2022

Saturday July 9 marks the 10th annual Khatsahlano Street Party, a one-day, 10-block festival along West 4th Avenue from Burrard to Macdonald, with live music, beer gardens, vendors, family activities, shopping and plenty of fun. Here are a few of the festival favourites and new things you should check out at the 2022 Khatsahlano Street Party! —Vita Daily

The Museum of Vancouver has partnered with the festival to create a Host Nations Pavilion, with Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Showcasing the talents of local Indigenous artists, there will be Cedar-Bark bracelet making classes with Marissa Nahanee, live carving and an Indigenous marketplace. Guests will also have an opportunity to bring a piece of art to life with Paintillio, an oversized paint by numbers using beautiful artwork created by Chase Gray.

New this year, Khats is #makingupformissingout with Celebration Selfie Stations at Cypress and Vine! Grab a prop and strike a pose in front of the Birthday Station and Graduation Station and appreciate that we can celebrate together. Post your photo and tag #makingupformissingout for a chance to win prizes.

Festival Weddings? YES PLEASE. Eight lucky couples have been selected to say “I do” in the middle of this street party! Leis De Buds is providing the florals and stunning setting! Coordination and planning by Pop up Weddings, beautiful photos by Tyshawnna Reann Photography and officiant provided by Young Hip and Married to make it official. When the weddings aren’t happening, take your photo in front of the floral wall and make sure to post #makingupformissingout.

West 4th’s hottest dessert spot is The Pie Hole and this year they’re stepping up the Pie Eating Contests! On the Khats Kids Stage at Trafalgar, The Pie Hole is hosting the Kids Competition at 4 p.m., so be there or be square. If you are an adult pie lover, there will be contests outside their storefront all day long as well. Bring your appetite!

Kitsilano and Yoga are a match made in heaven. Even the little ones love it! Yoga Buttons will be hosting Kids Yoga at 11 a.m. on the Trafalgar Stage, so bring your kids and get stretched and ready for a day of activity.

Covering 10 city blocks should meet your step quota, but if you’re looking to go above and beyond stop by the Gold’s Gym Obstacle Course at Larch Street and test your speed and agility. Schedule coming soon for professional heats, but this is also open to the public looking to test their limits.

Grab a cold brew! Select beer gardens are brought to you by Phillips, and can be found at Stephens, Vine and Cypress! If you are looking to post up in a beer garden all day, Stephens and Cypress have D’s so you don’t have to leave if you’re enjoying the tasty beers and games from Phillips.

Have you heard the news? There is a new cooler in town, just in time for summer! Topo Chico Hard Seltzer is the new beverage of choice, and they will be giving out free samples in the Topo Chico Garden beside Romers. Keep an eye out for the yellow truck for some cool prizing, too.

If you didn’t think there were enough gardens, Khats has added a T Garden, too. #Wedrinkt has another summer staple drink, and will be providing samples in their Yew T Garden. There will be bean bag toss and other great games, so look for the coral tent.

Need suntan lotion (thanks Sun Bum), phone charging, stage schedules, maps and more? We have you covered at our Info Booths! We will also be selling limited quantities of 10 Year Tie Dye Fanny Packs, Bob Masse Posters + more. Visit us at Balsam and Yew to get festival ready!
