Your Back-To-School Reading List for Increased Financial Literacy

August 11, 2022

Although it sounds sad, summer is drawing to a close, and the busyness of the school year—whether class is in session for you or not—always seems to motivate people to get to work. So, what better time to do some work on yourself? Last year I had Ayana of the @millennialmoney.guide on my podcast, $HMONEY Radio, to help pick a list of must-reads for every woman who wants to become savvier about money. And this year, I took a stab at adding to the reading list solo. In this podcast episode, I discuss my choices in more detail. But if you want the SparkNotes version of why you’ll love this reading list, let me break it down below:

  • It contains nine relatively short, easy-to-follow reads that you can refer back to in a pinch. In fact, I recommend going back to them again and again for a little advice or motivation.
  • You’ll hear from a beautifully diverse range of voices, opinions, and perspectives in each book. The authors span generations and have very different stories.
  • All of the books on this Back to School Reading List include actionable tips and exercises that you can implement into your everyday life. You know what they say, practice makes perfect (especially when it comes to good money habits).
  • Each book encourages you to introspect by asking yourself meaningful questions and thinking deeper about certain concepts.
  • If you have kids, all of the books featured are great jumping-off points for lessons about money. Better yet, include your tots in some of the activities that the books prompt!

Now, if you’re ready to get learning, grab your highlighters because you’re bound to mark up these books for years to come. Anastasia Barbuzzi
