Fall has to be the best time of year for fashion. From new collections debuting across New York, London, Milan and Paris, to the seasonal changes and the incredible layering aesthetic it brings—fall really is that girl when it comes to fashion.
There is no happier fashion feeling than pulling on some tall leather boots (major inspo here) or tossing on your favourite cable knit sweater a la Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally or Rory Gilmore. The seasonal change also signals the perfect time to reassess and organize your closet or dive into some new trends as we welcome the cooling temperatures and aesthetic opportunities.
And yes spoiler alert—there is no better place to plan for a new season, new aesthetic or new vibe than on Pinterest. I’ve been looking at what’s currently and what’s about to trend as I build my seasonal capsule collection and there are a few aesthetics I’m seriously excited about.
One of the first trends that had my eyes wide open was Gorpcore, which has increased in searches by 17x. This fashion trend is all about utilitarian yet functional style, bold colours and deep neutrals. Outfit staples like puffer jackets, campy fleece outfits or boxy cargo pants are must-have items to nail this trend.
While the Gorpcore trend has me jonesing to get out for a hike in some fall foliage, currently all my Pins on my chic fall Board point to Coastal Granddaughter. This aesthetic has spiked 4x in searches and while I think I am all for bold colours and temperature controlled textures, it looks like my true aesthetic falls to understated elegance. This aesthetic is a twist on the coastal grandma aesthetic. The style is perfect for anyone who is into the understated and elegant preppy outfits but want to add more coastal elements and cosiness to their looks.
And if you’re looking to add more to your fall look, try Soft Royal aesthetic. Searches for this aesthetic are up 2X thanks to TV series like Bridgerton. Try the Soft Royal aesthetic by styling elements in soft hues such as the Pinterest Predicted trend of pearl accessories, plus corsets, puffy shirts and ruffled dresses with modern accents.
It’s time to build your Pinterest Board to capture your fall mood and see how it opens up a window to your inspirational fall aesthetic. Is your current mood ultra bold or more soft? Are you feeling a pastel gothic vibe or interested in that clean girl energy? Why not find out by exploring the latest trends on Pinterest and find the inspiration to show up as the chicest version of yourself this season. —Alexandra Nikolajev, Global Senior Lead, Creator Content and Partnerships at Pinterest
