Hi Matt! Let’s dive deeper into this trend, which Kim Kardashian sported at Dolce&Gabbana’s Milan Fashion Week show; how do we achieve the look at home?
I would suggest using the Dyson Airwrap multi-styler. Start with wet hair and add a volumizing mousse at the root and a volumizing spray at the length and ends of the hair. Take the firm smoothing brush (or soft smoothing if you have finer hair) get the roots and midshaft dry by brushing the hair in opposite directions to create volume. Working hair from left to right to help keep your fringe in place while creating volume. Use the 40mm barrel attachment and take one-inch sections of hair. Use the barrel horizontally and Airwrap curl each section—depending on your hair texture and thickness don’t hold on for too long—you want it to be a blow out look. Once done, brush out with a boar bristle brush to create softness. Find your side part and back comb your hair to add volume. And finally, lift the side part fringe and add hairspray near the root – you don’t want to add too much weight on top to weigh down the look.
If we want to go more fringe-y with our side bangs for fall (like Emily Ratajkowski on TikTok), what are your top style tips?
I would suggest using the Dyson Supersonic and Dyson Corrale to achieve this look. Start by wetting the roots of your hairlie, this is to help control any cowlicks or directional issues on the hairline. Use a denman style brush and blow dry the hair side to side until dry. Once dry, find your part and use the Dyson Corrale on low heat and straighten over from root to midshaft to remove any bend at the end. Finish by lighting applying a clay paste to create separation in your fringe for a more natural textured feel.
Can curly girls rock side bangs? How?
Yes! It’s important to find your part first and apply the proper curl products you need for your hair and texture. Next, diffuse your sections with the Dyson Supersonic and if you want to add some volume to your part, you can use the wide tooth comb attachment on the Dyson Supersonic or Airwrap multi styler. One of Dyson’s Canadian beauty squad members, Amanda Guido, shows how to do this really well in this Instagram post.
Looking ahead to winter and holiday, any predications for hair?
I think we’ll see a lot of voluminous smooth blow outs with a side part. We may also see grown out shaggy fringes with more natural but enhanced texture of hair. And finally, I think we’ll continue to see snatched up-do styles and half-up half-down looks.
