Vancouver’s newest vintage thrift store does more than keep our outfits "on fleek".
Community Thrift & Vintage is a social enterprise partnered with the PHS Community Service Society employing women in the Downtown Eastside. The shop’s mission sets out to offer a safe work environment for women with barriers to conventional employment, providing valuable skills and training to ease them back into the workforce. New employees start with back-of-house skills such as steaming, tagging and sorting clothes (a great assortment of vintage unisex clothing). Once they master those tasks, they are taught to use the cash register, plus various aspects of retail operation and customer interaction. All profits are donated to PHS.
The store also sells a variety of unique and one-of-a-kind handmade art and pottery. Jackpot!
