New Year’s Eve Dinner 4 Ways

December 7, 2022

It’s time. We are so overdue. Time to book a table, get all gussied up, and ring in 2023 like we were meant to do: at a restaurant, having a lovely dinner, and that essential glass of champagne. There’s still time, but reserve soon. Here’s four Vancouver restaurants on our radar you should spend December 31 with. —Catherine Dunwoody

The Shangri-La hotel’s Carlino will whisk you off to Northern Italy, with 2 different seating times available for a special NYE menu on offer. Try the Pear Pressure cocktail to kick things off just right. Then chestnut soup with poached lobster, smoked arctic char, roasted sea bass and more. Leave room for the essential dolce of warm torta al cioccolato or panna cotta.

Mount Pleasant’s Bar Susu is hosting a special NYE party, starting with shareable plates by chef de cuisine Marc Marayag, a welcome cocktail by bar manager Joe Casson, wine pairings by wine director Brittany Hoorne (with an option to upgrade), and an amaro sipper after dinner. Menu highlights include tuna tartare, sablefish, and milk chocolate mousse. DJs will get the party started the moment you step in the door.

Also in Mount Pleasant, Anh and Chi has a fun evening of live music, a DJ, and a five-course tasting menu. Two seating times are available, expect to nosh on fresh shucked Kusshi oysters, cognac liver pate, side strip prawns, soft shell crab and more.

Fanny Bay Oysters is offering a bottle of Moët plus a dozen fresh oysters for a sweet deal, plus a special Lobster Thermidor add-on. Old-school cuisine and NYE just go together in a timeless, festive way. Enjoy.
