Bee-utiful Food Storage

April 20, 2012

Beeswax, tree resin and jojoba oil are great ingredients in beauty
products or candles, although we never thought theyd help replace Saran
wrap.

But that was one of the many lovely surprises of Abeego,
a Victoria-based food storage company. Their products include sheets and
pouches made of a hemp and cotton fabric coated in the above
ingredients. Take a sheet, mold it around the top of a bowl or a piece
of fruit, and store. When you are done with it, wash in cold water. With
care, Abeego sheets will last a year.

So not only are we ridding our fridge and food of BPAs, but we are also
putting a little less in the trash. Alexandra Suhner Isenberg

Abeego flats (pack of three) or sandwich pouches (in a variety of
colours) $15. Available from www.abeego.ca
or Twigg and Hottie, 3671 Main St., Vancouver, www.twiggandhottie.com
