Vicki’s February Beauty Faves

March 7, 2023

While February may have been a shorter month, it wasn’t without lots of new beauty discoveries that have cemented their place in my rotation. Some of our fave brands launched new cosmetic formulas while others upgraded their existing collection. Below are some of my fave products I tried in the month of February. —Vicki Duong

smashbox halo cheek + lip tint. Getting a monochromatic look is made easy with the Smashbox Halo Sheer to Stay Cream ($34) that can be worn on your lips or cheek. Don’t let the name fool you, the formula can be layered to create an impactful look. My personal fave shade is Mai Tai, a vibrant coral that has me daydreaming about tropical destinations.

stoic beauty body butter. When it comes to beauty products, I try a lot so when something becomes an instant classic, you know it’s good. The Stoic Beauty body butter ($25) that is rich in fatty acids that locks in moisture and leaves your skin feeling soothed but never greasy or heavy. Made with fair-trade shea and cocoa butter, this body butter is a true whipped formula that absorbs instantly while leaving a light fresh scent.

belif aqua bomb spf 50. Don’t let grey skies fool you, SPF is a must wear year-round. One of our fave brands, belif, just upgraded their Aqua Bomb moisturiser with a version ($50) that provides sun protection as well. This two-in-one leaves no white cast or film on your skin like other SPFs might, making it ideal as a makeup primer too.

birch + fog pain relief stick. Banish aches and pains with this pain relief stick ($45) from Birch + Fog. This easy to apply topical formula provides a deep cooling sensation that helps ease the sensation of inflammation, muscle aches and even congestion when applied to your chest or throat. Looking to add a bit of heat? The Spicy Mint ($45) blend delivers the same cooling feel followed by a warm sensation.

selv rituel x chez marcus. Stimulate and soothe your scalp naturally with this new collab offering from Selv Rituel and Chez Marcus. This natural and vegan Rosemary Stimulation Hair Mist ($48) while transport you to the spa with every use. Rosemary adds a light scent while also soothing and reliving your scalp while combating excess oil, plus the addition of vitamin B5 moisturises and softens your skin and hair.

fenty icon velvet liquid lipstick. Can Rihanna do no wrong? Her makeup line recently launched a line of liquid lipsticks ($38) with a whipped velvet formula. The mousse-like texture is easy to control and dries down to a demi-matte finish that is sure to make a statement. My go-to shade as of late has been THE MVP, a true blue-red which helps brighten the look of your complexion and helps pearly whites look extra white.

dermalogica contour serum. Think of it as a roller and gel all-in-one, this Dermalogica Neck Fit Contour Serum ($124) is a lightweight serum with a built-in applicator designed to lift and tone your neck and décolleté. The formula supports your skin by creating an invisible mesh that aids in the moisture barrier while visibly lifting and tightening.

covergirl color correcting primer. While we wear foundation to even out our skin tone, what if we could boost our complexion prior to any coverage is added? Covergirl’s Color Correcting ($23) is equal parts serum, moisturiser and primer, with a mild tint to combat dullness and boost brightness. Skincare ingredients included niacinamide for stressed skin and ceramide for hydration.

bioderma crème ultra. When it comes to treating dry and sensitive skin, Bioderma always knocks it out of the park. The new formulation of the Atoderm Crème Ultra ($27) is fragrance free and suitable for use on your face and body. I also love that the formula is fairly fluid making it quick absorbing and nourishing.

smashbox x becca under eye corrector. Nothing stings as much as one of your favourite products being discontinued and when BECCA announced that they were a brand no more I really felt the loss of their Under Eye Corrector, the ultimate 8-hours-of-sleep in a jar. But I recently found out that two of BECCA’s cult classics found a second-life with Smashbox, including the corrector ($50). The peachy hue neutralise blue tones making it ideal for under the eyes while vitamin E nourishes dry skin.
