5 Vancouver Restaurants With Special Menus For Mother’s Day

April 25, 2023

If taking mom out for brunch, tea or dinner isn’t an annual tradition to celebrate her special day, it’s time to make it one. After all, who’d we be without our mothers? Here’s where to take her out on Sunday, May 14, show your love and spoil her rotten. —Catherine Dunwoody

High Tea with a modern-day twist is what The Westin Bayshore’s Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea at H Tasting Lounge is all about. Settle mom into the Art Deco-style lounge indoors or make it super special by booking one of five floral-adorned patio domes in The Secret Garden. Nosh on Fraser Valley chicken roulade, vegetarian chickpea sandwiches, olive oil and chive-steeped B.C. spot prawns and Rabbit River Farms poached devilled eggs. Finish up with sweets like the lemon hibiscus tart and dark chocolate and cherry “Black Forest” scones. Be sure and order a pot of custom Bayshore Black Tea by O5 rare teas and tealeaves.

Fairmont Waterfront Hotel’s Mother’s Day Bottomless Brunch at ARC means you and your mom get to try it all, a little of this and a little of that. Special menu additions for Mom’s Day include the Rhubarb Crumble twist on ARC’s famous Ooey Gooey Skillet, and Grilled Asparagus with Béarnaise Sauce. Don’t spoil the surprise but, to make her day extra special, the team at ARC will be sending all moms home with a gift.

Truffles Fine Foods has created a special meal for Moms, the first time ever offered at VanDusen Gardens. Mother’s Day Brunch at VanDusen Gardens will be buffet of all her favourite savoury and sweet treats, complimentary mimosas (hello!) and 10 per cent off the admission price to visit the gardens.

L’Abattoir Restaurant has a collaboration with local chocolatier BETA5 tying into the return of their Sunday dinner service just in time for Mother’s Day. The multi-course prix-fixe menu includes a gift of BETA5’s chocolates to take home after dinner.

We’re loving the out of the ordinary offerings at Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet at H2 Kitchen + Bar. Think pan-seared wild salmon and lingcod medallions, assorted dim sum, Peking duck, sushi and Dungeness crab. A dessert station and well-priced $45 bottles of wine add great value, too.
