5 Sustainable Canadian Fashion Brands

May 1, 2023

Earth Month may be behind us, but we’re still looking at finding sustainable fashion brands to support year-round, and awarding bonus points if they’re also Canada-based. Fashion can be sustainable through a variety of ways such as producing locally and in small batches or using sustainable materials. Here are some pieces from Canadian brands we’ll be incorporating into our rotation this spring for a more planet-friendly wardrobe. —Vicki Duong

duer. Believe it or not, these high-rise joggers ($139) from Duer are made from eucalyptus. The plant-based material not only ensures a gentler impact on the planet but also absorbs moisture so you stay dry and fresh throughout the day. Not to mention, the high-rise and elasticized waist provides a sleek and slim fit suitable for all of your casual outings.

loversland x soft focus. We adore when brands collab to create something cosy. Bridal brand, Loversland, and loungewear brand, Soft Focus co-created a PJ jumpsuit ($259) that merges both companies aesthetics. Inspired by a classic sleep set, you’ll love catching your z’s in this cropped jumpsuit while a leopard-print jacquard adds instant fashion appeal. Available in multiple colours, how adorable would day-of pics look of you and your closest friends getting ready for the ceremony in matching jumpsuits?

ellie mae. The quintessential it girl jacket of the season has got to be a coach jacket. Currently on our wishlist is this Canadian-made Keaton jacket ($395) from Ellie Mae. While the silhouette is casual enough to pair with jeans or leggings, the slightly muted satin finish also makes it perfect for dressing up. Each Ellie Mae piece is made in small batches to ensure the utmost quality and reduces the likelihood of overproduction

livom. Based out of Montreal, Livom has quickly become one of our favourite brands for scoping out eco-concious home decor and fashion. Their latest fashion collection is inspired by the lavender fields in France and we could not be more thrilled to shift our minds to sunny weather dressing. The Pleated Shorts ($85) has quickly become one of our go-tos with a pleated design to add a tailored look while a cotton-blend keeps them casual.

poppy barley. No footwear collection is complete without a strappy sandal but we’re not willing to sacrifice comfort just to show off our pedi. Fret not, Poppy Barley’s Harley Heeled Sandal ($298) boasts a memory foam sole and adjustable ankle strap to keep each stride supported while a moderate heel elevates your look.
