When it comes to ice cream, we’re not the gallon-of-cheap-vanilla kind. We’re picky about our frozen treats—anything so caloric has to be as delicious as it is sinful.
Our new favourite, 100%-worth-every-bite ice cream is Essence ($9.99 for 500mL). Formerly catering to restaurants only, the Montreal brand has launched a retail line of 14 ice cream and seven sorbet flavours made from high-quality, all-natural ingredients. To be fair, this ice creamery has a secret weapon in the form of pastery chef extraordinaire Jean-Marc Guillot, winner of both the Meilleur Ouvrier de France, Glacier and a gold medal at the Pastry World Championship in Lyon.
