Book-loving folks in Toronto will feel their heart go pitter patter when they pop into the first Penguin Random House Canada bookstore now open downtown.
This tiny pocket of a shop is in the lobby of the publisher’s headquarters and a few hundred titles are shelved here, along with a cheerful array of book-lover accessories, such as cotton tote bags, zippered pouches featuring book covers, mugs and enamel penguin pins. The shelves (designed to look like books themselves) slide so you can access more titles and treasures, but we enjoy the coziness that comes from the minute size of the shop.
Maybe it’s the comforting feeling of knowing you’re about to stumble upon your next great read. —Karen Kwan
