4 Highlights From Heineken’s F1 Viewing Party In Vancouver

June 20, 2023

Most Formula 1 races take place in the early hours of the morning or late at night but a few times a year Canadians can tune in at a more comfortable time and local bars can host special events. Heineken hosted just such an event at Good Co. on Granville Street for the Montreal Grand Prix. Good Co. (formerly Colony Bars) first opened in Kitsilano in 2012 and now have locations across Greater Vancouver. Here are four highlights from the event! —Bronwyn Lewis

Heineken Training Academy: The Heineken team organized training activities typically done by F1 drivers including a lights out count down, a ball game, as well as ball-catch challenge. There was even an F1 track simulator to drive. It was very cool to feel how responsive and sensitive the car was. The best scores were awarded prizes like an F1 Heineken helmet or jacket.

Beer: This was a Heineken event so, of course, there were specials on Heineken Lager and Heineken 0.0. The Heineken 0.0 is a great non-alcoholic option. Both versions are crisp, and clean making Heineken a brilliant brunch beer.

Race bingo: Another fun way to win prizes. Each bingo card was different with squares like “Hamilton finishes on the podium” and “Safety car deployment” which made watching the race even more engaging and exciting.

Brunch: Regular menu items were cleverly renamed to fit the F1 theme. The Lights Out Bowl had bell peppers and onion cooked with sausage and crispy potatoes. The Pole Position Benedict came with peameal bacon and a side of crispy potatoes. Lastly, the Hot (Lap) Chicken Sandwich had a pleasantly spicy piece of Southern fried chicken.
