Wendy Van Riesen, the textile artist and fashion designer who founded Dahlia Drive, has announced her plans to resign after 16 years at the helm of her brand.
She’s probably best known for her ethical, eco-friendly principles (every garment is upcycled, handmade and unique) and her stunning collaboration with Haida artist Reg Davidson on a collection called Yáahl Gúud Tsai (Ravens, Eagles, Polka Dots). “I am grateful to my clients who, by supporting Dahlia Drive, have allowed me to develop an ethical art practice making beautiful clothing that illustrates stories of cultural significance,” says Wendy.
Fans of her work have one last chance to get their mitts on designs as she will be at the Circle Craft Christmas Market from November 8 to 12. Prices range from $200 to $900 per item. —Aileen Lalor
