Old typewriters, scraps of wood and cast-off crockery might otherwise
end up in a skip if not for the vision of local artisans like Daisuke
Ito of Black Pug.
A new addition to the vintage enclave at Queen and Roncy, his little
gem of a shop is littered with unique finds from old bar stools,
signage and ceramics to vintage
lamps, clocks and armoires.
But Itos real passion is his steampunk custom workVictorian pieces with
a modern edge. So far he has designed a coffee table with a telephone
pole as the leg and a flat screen television that sits within an ornate
Victorian picture frame.
And whos the black pug? Ito’s three-year-old pup Haru, named after the
Japanese word for spring.
