The merry moments of the holidays are the perfect time to try and test new cocktails. Brad Stanton, beverage development manager of Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, shares a couple of his favourite recipes: the Gingerbread Sour, which you can find at Match Eatery & Public House, as well as a free-spirited version for those who fancy something non-alcoholic. The Gingerbread Sour is the perfect addition to cozy evenings by the fireplace or festive holiday dinners. It’s smooth and packed with a tonne of flavour. Gingerbread Sour
1.5oz bourbon (we use Bulleit)
1oz lemon juice
.75oz gingerbread syrup (we use Giffard)
1pc crystalized ginger
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with a piece of crystalized ginger on a skewer.
Gingerbread Sour (Free-Spirited Version)
1.5oz strong black tea*
1oz lemon juice
.75oz gingerbread syrup (we use Giffard)
1pc crystalized ginger
For the tea: Choose your favorite black tea to use. Bring water to a boil and add 2 tea bags per 250ml (1 cup) of boiling water. Let the tea steep for 15 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the mixture stand to cool. Refrigerate the tea when not in use. For the drink: Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with a piece of crystalized ginger on a skewer.
