Read the favourites of the day.
Grab a newspaper for tips from the pros on picking the horse and bets of the day. They’re usually right on the money.
Learn to bet an exacta or exactor.
This is for the horse to come first and second or to win and show. This means you can bet the favourite and a long shot.
Look at the horse. Duh.
Do this when they parade the horses before the race. Does it look well, lethargic, or a little odd? All are signs of how well the horse will perform.
Watch the odds.
If the odds keep changing then someone in the know knows something you don’t!
Know the order of placing.
1st = Win. 2nd = Show. 3rd = Place.
