Can you share your journey of becoming a content creator on TikTok and what inspired you to start creating content that celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community?
I became a creator during the pandemic. With everything going on around the world, it was a bit much and I needed a creative outlet. Initially, I joined TikTok out of curiosity. The platform’s vibrant and diverse community quickly drew me in. I was captivated by the creativity and authenticity of the content and as I explored further, I realized TikTok’s potential as a powerful tool for expression and connection. I was hooked, and I have no regrets about staying!
How has your experience as an LGBTQIA+ creator on TikTok helped you connect with and build a supportive community?
By being open about my journey, struggles, and triumphs, I have been able to connect with followers who resonate with my experiences. This authenticity fosters a sense of trust and belonging within the community. Also, creating content that educates and raises awareness about LGBTQIA+ i issues has proven to be a powerful way to connect with others. By addressing topics such as coming out, mental health, and LGBTQIA+ rights, I provide valuable information and support to those who may be navigating similar challenges.
What impact do you hope your content has on your audience, especially those within the LGBTQIA+ community?
Through sharing my own journey and experiences, I hope to inspire others to live openly, helping them to overcome fears and insecurities related to their identities. Also, I want my content to serve as a source of support and solidarity for those who may feel isolated or marginalized. By creating a welcoming and inclusive space, my goal is to offer comfort and a sense of belonging to my audience, showing them that they are not alone in whatever they may be going through as they navigate their experiences.
Can you talk about any challenges you’ve faced as an LGBTQIA+ content creator and how you’ve overcome them?
As an LGBTQIA+ content creator, I’ve faced several challenges, but each has provided an opportunity for growth and resilience. One of the most significant has been dealing with online harassment and negative comments. However, I’ve developed a thick skin and learned to focus on the positive feedback and support from my followers instead.
Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for your content and your advocacy within the LGBTQIA+ community?
Moving forward, my commitment is to continue amplifying the diverse voices and stories of LGBTQIA+ individuals, especially those from marginalized sub-communities such as BIPOC and transgender individuals. I aim to highlight their experiences and promote intersectionality within our community
