London designer Kate Halfpenny is one of the top talents in the world of bridal fashion. The former celebrity stylist (Kate Moss, Rihanna, Cate Blanchette and Emilia Fox are just a few of her famous clients) launched her luxury bridalwear brand Halfpenny London in 2005 which is beloved for its modern-romantic aesthetic. Halfpenny’s creations are at once incredibly fashion-forward and old-world inspired.
I recently visited the designer in her chic London store, an absolute dream of a bridal boutique in the Bloomsbury area of the city housed in a charming Georgian era shop. Inside, Halfpenny’s designs are artfully displayed in the cozy space—my eye immediately clocks an iconic oversize bow which is a signature Halfpenny piece. We chat about Halfpenny’s current fabric obsessions, love of hand embroidery, and of course wedding fashion trends, the biggest one being the rise of multi-looks for wedding days and how to easily create multiple looks by adding and subtracting pieces like the statement bow. This detail is the perfect embodiment of the style philosophy that drives Halfpenny’s bridal brand: #BeTheBrideYouWantToBe.
With her latest exclusive collab with Net-A-Porter, Halfpenny is bringing some of her effortlessly chic, transformative bridal fashion pieces to us to shop from the comforts of home. New additions to the Halfpenny London X Net-A-Porter collection have just dropped, and it has some pretty epic pieces from a the divine Dean hooded lace cape to the impeccably tailored Sophie coat dress, and whimsical hand-embroidered tulle gloves.
“I love to see brides experimenting with their style and enjoying the celebrations surrounding their wedding day,” Halfpenny says of her inspiration behind the new capsule collection. “Whether it be for the wedding ceremony itself or to surprise guests with a second outfit, this new collection of dresses and statement accessories is perfect for brides seeking and effortless look. Every piece is made in the UK and carries Halfpenny London’s ethos of individual expression at its core.”
