A Fave Homeware Brand Has Launched Its New Living Collection

July 22, 2024

Exciting news for interior design buffs: Fable, renowned for its beautifully crafted homeware, is expanding beyond the dining table with the launch of its new Living Collection in September. This is a big moment, as Fable, known for its gorgeous dishes, steps into the world of home décor. The Living Collection will feature four new categories—lighting, rugs, wall art and frames, and planters. What inspired the decision to expand Fable’s offerings beyond dining and venture into the broader home decor market with the Living Collection?

Our vision for Fable is to help people feel ‘right’ at home. Expanding into the living room felt natural, as it’s adjacent to the dining room and a space where people gather. This step aligns well with creating a cohesive, comfortable home where memories are made.

Can you share the design philosophy behind the Living Collection and how it aligns with Fable’s commitment to sustainability and quality?

Our design philosophy for the Living Collection centers around creating timeless, everyday products that enhance the warmth and comfort of the home. This philosophy aligns seamlessly with Fable’s commitment to bringing a distinctive blend of style, quality, and sustainability to the home.

How did you approach the design and development of the four new product categories—lighting, rugs, wall art and frames, and planters?

Each product in the Living Collection is vastly different in terms of material, functionality, and origin. However, as with any of our products, this collection aligns with Fable’s aesthetic vision and sustainability initiatives to ensure that each piece is timelessly designed, durably crafted for everyday use, and made with the intention of helping our customers feel right at home.

Could you elaborate on the collaboration with sustainable lighting manufacturer Gantri for The Curve Table Light, and the significance of using 3D printing technology?

Gantri’s sustainability ethos aligns perfectly with ours, and as experts in 3D printing, they were pivotal in the development of The Curve Table Light design. Their expertise ensured that our design could be easily manufactured using this innovative technology for lighting. Each light is 3D printed using their high-performance plant polymer material, an eco-friendly alternative to plastic that’s 100% plant-based and biodegradable. 3D printing also allows for smaller batches to be produced on demand, which eliminates the risk of overproduction.

What makes Fable’s wool rugs unique in terms of materials, craftsmanship, and maintenance, and why did you choose to handweave them in Northern India?

When we set out to make rugs, we knew we wanted to create premium products that were easy to care for. We specifically choose wool yarns for their natural durability and stain resistance, and collaborated with makers in Northern India that are experts in handweaving. Woven as flatweave, The Wool Rugs function exceptionally well in high-traffic areas. Despite being composed of 88% certified New Zealand wool and 12% cotton yarns, they’re machine washable and easy to maintain, making them ideal for living spaces.

How does the design of the Rounded Frame reflect Fable’s aesthetic, and what was the process of partnering with artists like Joy Kinna, Kristine Nilan, and Anne Schafer for the limited-edition artwork?

The Rounded Frames align effortlessly with Fable’s aesthetic by bringing a unique characteristic to artwork frames. We wanted to create something that would stand out with its distinctive design. We partnered with Joy Kinna, Kristine Kilan, and Anne Schafer to create the original limited edition artwork, and each brought their own style, creativity, and personality to their collection. It was a delight to work with each of these artists and watch their creative processes unfold.

What are the key features of the ceramic planters crafted at Fable’s zero-waste facility in Portugal, and how do they ensure the health and longevity of plants?

Overwatering can often be problematic for houseplants, which is why our stoneware planters are designed with three drainage holes and an extra deep bottom tray to collect any excess water. Additionally, a gap between the pot and tray allows for air circulation. These functional details are intended to promote healthier plants. The extra deep bottom tray also prevents excess water from spilling out onto the floor or shelf when watering.

In what ways does the Living Collection enhance the overall home environment, and how do you envision customers integrating these pieces into their spaces?

Our products are designed to seamlessly integrate into every home through timeless design, natural materials, and a color palette that adapts to any setting with ease. The combination of Fable’s aesthetic and everyday usability ensures our collections effortlessly complement each other and any space.

How does Fable ensure that all products, including those in the Living Collection, are produced ethically and sustainably by skilled artisans?

Our makers are carefully selected to ensure they align with our values around ethical and sustainable production. We partner closely with them throughout the entire process, from material selection to production, and value their expertise. We pride ourselves on being transparent about the origin of our products—who makes them, where they’re made, what materials are used, and how each piece is brought to life. As with all previous Fable collections, we’re eager to share the stories behind the makers of our Living Collection pieces with our audience, including their sustainability initiatives.

What future plans does Fable have for expanding its homeware offerings, and how do you see the brand evolving in the coming years?

As mentioned, our vision is to help people feel ‘right’ at home. Right now, we’re shifting our focus from dinnerware to homeware as a whole. Our expansion from the dining room to the living room has opened a new door for Fable, and we’re excited to see what other areas of the home this will take us to in the coming years.
