British culinary sensation Jamie Oliver has graced Toronto with his very first North American location (there are 60 around the world!) of Jamie’s Italian.
We stopped in to the impressive two-level 8,300 square foot restaurant for lunch to nosh on the “Cured Meat Plank” featuring selections from the beautiful hanging antipasti bar (think fennel salami, pistachio mortadella, prosciutto and spicy schiacciata piccante with boccaccini and pecorino cheese). All produce used is from 100km Foods, which sources fruits and veggies from, you guessed it, 100km or less. And pasta is made fresh daily in-house with pasta extruders custom painted in Ferrari red. One of the most popular is their “Famous Prawn Linguine” made with sustainable fried garlicky prawns. There’s also house made pizza, towering burgers and a killer orange mascarpone tiramisu.
