With all of the locally made brews on offer these days, our tastes are becoming quite particular on the alcohol front. We want to know where our booze is made and that the ingredients used to make it are fresh, organic and local. Luckily for us, much like revolutions in craft beer and wine, locally made craft spirits are quickly becoming the popular choice of consumers around the world.
Many of the brands leading this charge are made right here in BC. Case in point: The makers of Nütrl Vodka, Goodridge & Williams Craft Distillery in Delta are bringing local craft spirits to the forefront of the spirits industry.
“BC has the best water and the best grains for making vodka,” says Stephen Goodridge, founder and managing director of G&W Distillery. “It’s no wonder that Canadians are trying Nütrl Vodka and loving it. In fact, we are beating the ‘big guys’ in taste tests every week. People are loving the taste, the smoothness.”
Nütrl Vodka comes in a very unique ’N’ shaped bottle. “It’s special, so we gave it a special bottle. As for the taste, most of the craft distillers out there are making vodkas with a bit of flavour. Our aim with Nütrl Vodka was to be as clean and as smooth as possible. To get there, we had to order a 24-foot tall, two tower copper column still. It’s quite cool."
