behind the seams

February 20, 2014

A racy piece by playwright Oren Safdie is premiering in Montreal.

UnseamlyThe inspiration for Unseamly (presented by Infinithéatre) came from having a daughter “Suddenly, I started seeing the world differently. Victoria’s Secret for 10 year olds, the highly suggestive ads, they all made me feel that here has to be a consequence to this,” says Safdie.

And so his latest play explores high-profile sexual harassment cases in clothing companies – including the one known for its lewd billboard – and touches upon issues including the over-sexualization of youth, sexual harassment and the influence of power and wealthy.

Thought-provoking and a little bit salacious? Count us in. —Christine Laroche
