Montreal may be famous for its smoked meat but, in the last decade, the deli scene’s been losing steam.
Enter Deli Sokolów, serving up smoked meat, coleslaw and pickles with a Cott’s Black Cherry on the side. Open 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., this diner-style resto offers breakfast and lunch dishes with a Jewish-deli-meets-Quebecois-fare flair, including challah French toast and potato latke poutine. Inside, it’s vintage everything, from formica tables and mustard-yellow chairs to a gleaming chrome lunch counter with a view. Word is management will soon be expanding the menu, opening for dinner and serving up ice cream as we move into summer.
