Paris fashion week Spring 2025 has come to a close. This week has been full of delightful surprises, from exciting spring collections, to the return of old favourites, to magical backdrops at Disneyland Paris. Here are some highlights from Paris fashion week and what we can expect to see in stores come Spring 2025.
Whimsical Chloé’s
Chloe has long been known for whimsical, feminine and bohemian influence. For Spring 2025 Chloé showed a stunning collection that stayed true to the brand. A delicate, soft white palette wrapped in layers of sheer organza and silks with lace trims. Chloé even showed a stunning pair of organza and lace bloomers, variations of which were seen also at Rokh and Torishéju meaning the bubble skirt/short trend should be with us still in 2025.
Chanel Returns to Its Roots
Since Virgine Viard announced her exit as Chanel’s artistic director and the successor to the brand’s iconic designer, Karl Lagerfeld, the fashion world has been waiting with bated breath to learn who will take on the role. Though the very large shoes have yet to be filled, this collection was designed by Chanel’s creative studio as we continue to wait to meet the new creative director. Spring 2025 Chanel has a feeling of coming home, not only in a return to a collection which feels classically Chanel – tweed suits, and cap toed mary jane’s, but also to Paris’ Grand Palais, where for years, Lagerfeld captured the magic of his designs on some of the most dynamic and awe inspiring catwalks the fashion world has ever seen.
A Disney Fairytale at Coperni
If you open your VOGUE app right now, you may be greeted by an enchanting video of fireworks exploding over Sleeping Beauty’s pink castle while models strut down the runway in Coperni’s Spring 2025 collection. The Coperni show took place at Disneyland Paris, right in front of the pink palace and yes, there was a fireworks display during the finale. The clothes themselves captured Disney’s classic fairytale princess aesthetic with pastel blues, purples, pinks and yellows and delicate floral appliques that flutter on the breast of sheer blouses and dresses.
Overall the Spring 2025 collections at Paris fashion week feel fresh and abound with creativity. Some additional highlights include Valentino, who played with layers and varieties of textures, almost reminiscent of Gucci. Structure and form played a large role amongst the collections including Cecilie Bahnsen who continues to play with volume and structure with balloon-like shapes in dresses and blouses. Loewe too took A-line to a new level with super mini dresses that look like a futuristic version of the 1960’s mini. Both YSL and Nicholas Ghesquiere at Louis Vuitton showed oversized blazers and jackets, but in new silhouettes including large puff sleeves and even more exaggerated shoulders. Lastly, Giambattista Valli played into the popular coquette aesthetic with the use of bows and rose garlands – for Spring. —Sheila O’Neill
