After seeing Chelsea Handler’s Insta post showing her amaze before and afters following an intense laser skin treatment, we had to follow up for more.
Researching various options, we found our answer at Vancouver’s Physician Skincare Centre. However, unlike Chelsea’s, our treatment would be more intense, delivering better results. Better results? Hells ya.
the what. Called Pearl Fractional by Cutera, it involves intense laser pulses deep into the epidermis. But, unlike other lasers, due to the precise targeting of Pearl only a fraction of the skin is affected, lessening the amount of downtime while stimulating the production of collagen (read: the Holy Grail of radiant skin).
the who. Targeting fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, sun damage and skin tone, Pearl is best for fair to medium skin tones, delivering noticeable, long-lasting results after just one session.
the how. After applying a numbing cream the treatment took about two hours. We’ll admit there was some pain but, thanks to our technician team’s speedy expertise, it was manageable. After all was said and done, our face looked battered, as if we’d been in a pigeon fight (with the burn marks to prove it).
the after. A few days of hibernation and vinegar soaks later, we began to see dramatic improvements by day 5. At the one-week mark we could wear makeup, and return to normal activities. By day 10 we loved how our complexion glowed. Freckles, fine lines and wrinkles—gone. The redness under our eyes and around our nose—gone-gone.
the fine print. While offered nationwide this treatment is highly technical, so you’ll want to research your options—including patient reviews—thoroughly. In our case, the team at PSC, namely our tech Meenu and med director Dr. Bieg, have a rock-solid track record (they’re regarded among B.C.’s best).
the final. To say we’re pleased with Pearl Fractional would be an understatement. We’ll definitely keep on singing its beauty praises (and shout out to Chelsea H., too). —Aurea Dempsey
