First time at the barre

July 26, 2016

Find your centre—and your inner ballerina—at Vancouver’s new barre studio, Body Balance. Just a few steps away from Pacific Centre mall, their modern fitness boutique offers three class styles that is sure to have something for everyone.

We tried their strength program ‘Yoga Barre’ which uses a combination of weights and a rubber exercise ball to engage the muscles in our arms, legs, and core. With a gentle beat to motivate us during our pliés and poses, our instructor Andi led us through a challenging total body workout that was easy to follow – even for a beginner at the barre. It definitely had us feeling sore the next day.

Each session is 45 minutes and all equipment is provided. Come with a water bottle as they have a convenient refill station to keep you hydrated.

If you’re looking to start the day off right, begin at the barre. You’ll be going from first position to savasana in no time. —Jacqueline Ranit
