What inspired you to infuse fine jewelry with aroma, and how did the idea first come to life?

The idea came from my passion for both wellness and fashion. I’ve always loved essential oils and statement jewelry, and when I entered an innovation competition, I knew I wanted to merge the two. I realized this concept solved real problems—like wanting to experience the emotional benefits of scent in a more beautiful, wearable form, and how traditional perfume isn’t ideal for everyone.

Some people close to me have skin sensitivities, and I wanted to create a more inclusive alternative—where scent is diffused from a natural lava rock instead of directly on the skin. Unlike perfume, which fades or changes depending on skin chemistry, the aroma stays soft, consistent, and present throughout the day. We use clean, alcohol-free oils that are gentle and safe for daily use. It’s a subtle, sensory form of self-care woven into something you already love to wear.

I ended up winning first place in the competition and used the prize money, along with my savings, to bring Nidolio to life.

Scent is such a powerful connector to memory and emotion—what kind of experiences or feelings do you hope Nidolio wearers associate with their pieces?

I hope Nidolio wearers feel a sense of grounding, calm, and confidence when they wear their pieces. Scent is incredibly personal—it can instantly shift your mood or bring back a memory. Whether it’s the comfort of vanilla, the clarity of eucalyptus, or the warmth of amber, each aroma tells a story and creates an atmosphere around you.

With essential oils, there’s the added benefit of emotional support—like lavender for stress relief, citrus for energy, or sandalwood for focus. I want people to feel empowered by their scent, like they’re carrying a pocket of self-care and identity with them throughout the day. My hope is that wearing Nidolio becomes both a daily ritual and a sensory experience that lifts and supports them, no matter where they are.

Modularity is a key part of your design ethos—can you tell us how that works and why versatility is so important to the modern jewelry lover?

Modularity is at the heart of Nidolio—our pendants open to hold interchangeable lava rocks that absorb and slowly diffuse fragrance throughout the day. You can mix our oils for a personalized scent or even use your favourite essential oils. The pieces are designed to be layered and paired with different chains, offering endless styling options. This flexibility allows wearers to choose the style and scent that suits their unique preferences.

For me, sustainability and luxury should go hand in hand. True luxury is thoughtful—it’s about quality, longevity, and intention. From the start, I wanted Nidolio to reflect that mindset. We use responsibly sourced materials like stainless steel and 14k gold plating, and design with longevity in mind. Our pieces are crafted to evolve with the wearer, not be replaced.

The modularity of our jewelry means less waste—both in terms of overconsumption and fragrance. You can refresh the scent without discarding the piece and reuse the lava stones again and again. It’s about creating beauty with purpose—elevated, sensory jewelry that feels indulgent but still honours the planet.

We’re curious—what’s your personal favourite Nidolio piece, and which scent do you find yourself pairing it with most often?

My favorite piece is the Celeste. Its sculptural diamond shape is modern yet timeless, and the way it catches the light makes it feel both luxurious and versatile for any occasion.

I pair it with our Amber Jazz fragrance. The scent opens with orange and saffron, blending into florals, and finishes with a grounding base of amber, cedar, and sandalwood. It’s warm and comforting, perfect for when I want to feel centered.
