We declare patio season officially open! With all our favourite bars and eateries dusting off their deck chairs, we’ve picked a few of the best patios in town to make your decision easier:
Meat for Dinner: What would summer be without a good barbecue? The experts at Meat are the best in the biz, specializing in slow-cooked and smoked brisket, pork, fired chicken and juicy Andouille sausage. Plus, they have a killer cocktail list and a great patio outfitted with trendy furniture by IZM Design. Meat, 8216 104th St., Edmonton, 587-520-6338, meatfordinner.com
The Sugarbowl: This place is an institution, much loved for its cinnamon buns and adored for its beer selection. The only setback: Sugarbowl’s sweet patio (pictured) is on the smaller side, so may have to exercise patience during peak times (you’ll be glad you did). Sugarbowl, 10922 88th Ave., Edmonton, 780-433-8369, thesugarbowl.org
Confederation Lounge: For an impeccably crafted cocktail with an equally perfect view, this Fairmont Hotel Macdonald-situated lounge boasts a patio overlooking the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Order a gin martini and soak it all in. Confederation Lounge, 10065 100th St., Edmonton, 780-424-5181, www.fairmont.com
