Cue the confetti and pour the bubbly—British Columbia’s most iconic hotels are having a very good summer. In a big win for staycationers and globe-trotters alike, three Fairmont properties in B.C. have just been named among Travel + Leisure’s Top 10 City Hotels in Canada as part of the magazine’s prestigious 2025 World’s Best Awards.
Leading the luxe pack? None other than Fairmont Empress in Victoria, claiming the #1 spot nationwide (crown emoji totally deserved). Affectionately dubbed the “Castle on the Coast,” this heritage gem has been charming guests since 1908 with its grand architecture, stately rooms, and of course, that legendary Afternoon Tea.
Not to be outdone, Fairmont Pacific Rim—a downtown Vancouver favourite known for its jaw-dropping mountain and harbour views—came in hot at #7. And just a few blocks away, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (a.k.a. the “Castle in the City”) held it down at #9, blending old-world glamour with modern flair like only a grand dame from 1939 can.

The World’s Best Awards, now in their 30th year, are based on hundreds of thousands of reader-submitted reviews that score hotels on everything from food and service to location and overall vibe. So yes, these wins are basically the Oscars of travel—and B.C. just swept the red carpet.
